Back from the brink of death – cardiopulmonary resuscitation, past, present and future

Each year ambulance service personnel provide CPR for about 30,000 people who’ve had a cardiac arrest – 8% survive to leave hospital alive. Survival depends on optimisation of all ‘links chain of survival’, starting with prompt action from the public. Professor Nolan will explore the history of CPR, describe current practice and outline future developments. Further information is available
