Need for nominations for student reps for the Students’ Union

Elections for student representatives for next academic year are looming, in fact there are only two and a half weeks to go until nominations for Course and Faculty Rep positions close. It is important there are committed and engaged student representatives to work in partnership with staff to continually monitor the MB ChB programme, to agree ways in which problems can be resolved, and enhance the overall educational experience for students.  The short promotional video here outlines the reasons to get involved as a student representative. You can nominate yourself here.

The Student Union have also launched an online ‘nominate a mate’ form for staff and students to recommend those students that they would like to encourage to stand for a position. Why not nominate a friend who you think could be a great student representative.?

Your campus, your choice

Tyndall Place is a major strategic project which will see the redevelopment of Tyndall Avenue and Woodland Road, one of the busiest areas on the Clifton campus. With new facilities clustered around a bright, open public space, this will provide a welcoming heart to the University.

The first phase involves public realm improvements and the proposed pedestrianisation of Tyndall Avenue. Plans are on display in Senate House.

Thinking about what to do with your Summer?

Bristol Hub is currently taking applications for our Social Impact Voluntary Placement Scheme (SIVP), which provides students with the opportunity to spend the summer with an exciting, inspiring & innovative social impact organisation.

About Bristol Hub

Bristol Hub is the local branch of the national student social action charity Student Hubs. We aim to mainstream social action and empower students to become active citizens for life. We do this through providing opportunities for students to take part in social action and get involved with the local community. We run several volunteering programmes with community partners in Bristol including a tutoring programme and an intergenerational volunteering programme. We also run skilled placements which connect students with local non-profit organisations, enabling students to gain the necessary skills and experience for a career in the third sector.

Social Impact Voluntary Placement Scheme

The Scheme places students who are interested in gaining insight and experience in the social impact sector with organisations delivering social impact to carry out internships lasting 6-8 weeks over the summer.

Our organisations are based in Bristol, Cambridge, Oxford, London and Winchester. Now in its seventh year, this is the biggest social sector internship scheme in the UK: last year we placed 84 students in 46 organisations.

87% of participants agree that they gained valuable work experience and a useful insight into the social impact sector.

Alongside their placements, interns get access to exclusive training featuring sessions designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge they need to pursue a career in the social impact sector.

This is your chance to make a difference whilst gaining work experience, great contacts, new skills and an insight into the world of social impact careers.

Organisations we have previously placed students with include: Greentraveller limited, Deki, the Big Issue Foundation, GROW Bristol CIC, and many more.
